Tuned up

The Friendship House piano — a beautiful Michigan-made Wenger upright manufactured in the 1940’s and donated by Bill Mehrens of St. Luke Lutheran in Haslett — got professionally tuned last week by David Kollar.

David carefully plied his trade — more of an art, actually — so that this grand instrument now plays with a sweet, rich elegance — an honorific if there ever was one to the memory of Bill’s wife, Beth, to whom the piano belonged.

Beth passed away a little more than a year ago, but her music lives on in this touching gift to Friendship House.  We thank the Frank Siciliano Home Group of St. Luke Lutheran Church for donating the funds to make the tuning possible.

The International students and teachers of Friendship House will find much enjoyment and inspiration from the piano for years to come.  Thank you Bill, David and the members of St. Luke!
